  • Contact the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts for legal support.
  • The A&E District designation offers tax breaks for artists who sell their work or perform in the district (Maryland tax form 502AE). For more information about this incentive, visit the Maryland State Arts Council’s A&E District Resources page.
  • A&E Property Tax Credit: The A&E District designation offers a 10 year tax credit for improvements to manufacturing, commercial, or industrial properties for use by a qualifying residing artist or arts and entertainment enterprise. The City of Baltimore Department of Finance manages the application of this incentive. For program details, see their guide. This tax credit is not currently active in Highlandtown – please contact our office for more information.
